Shahadat Molla was the son of Ibrahim Molla, a resident of Char Shamukhola village, from his previous marriage. According to local sources, Ibrahim Molla’s first wife left him, prompting him to remarry and have a son, Shahadat, with his new wife.
The tragedy began to unfold when Shahadat’s grandmother, Rabeya Begum, allegedly lost 20,000 taka on Wednesday morning. This loss led to a heated argument with Shahadat’s mother, culminating in Rabeya accusing Shahadat of theft. Later in the afternoon, Shahadat went missing from home, prompting a frantic search in the village.
Despite extensive searches in various locations, Shahadat could not be found until a villager near the pond hillside informed the authorities. The child’s lifeless body was discovered buried in the ground near the pond. Upon receiving the news, a police team from the Lohagara Police Station rushed to the scene to recover the body and initiate an investigation.
Rabeya Begum, the grandmother, was immediately taken into custody as a suspect in the case. A police team took the body to the Narail Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
