Seven Crore Rupees Worth of Heroin Seized Before Smuggling, Bangladeshi Arrested

In a daring operation, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) managed to seize seven crore rupees worth of heroin from Murshidabad district in West Bengal, India, before it could be smuggled into Bangladesh. The BSF intercepted a Bangladeshi national in the act, leading to the successful confiscation of the illegal drugs.

The incident took place on Saturday, March 22nd, along the Pirpore border area of South Bengal. The vigilant BSF personnel, stationed at the Pirpore border, apprehended a total of 3.387 kilograms of heroin, valued at nearly seven crore rupees in Indian currency.

According to the BSF, the operation was launched following intelligence about illegal activities in the border region. A stealthy surveillance was initiated to monitor suspicious movements in the area. Around 4 PM, the BSF members spotted two individuals crossing over from the Indian side towards Bangladesh. Acting swiftly, the BSF personnel intercepted the smugglers, who attempted to discard the contraband amidst the commotion. One of the smugglers was caught, and five packets were recovered during a subsequent search of the area.

Upon further investigation, the arrested smuggler confessed to being a Bangladeshi national involved in various cross-border criminal activities. He revealed that the packets were given to him by Indian accomplices.

The captured individual provided additional details, stating that his task was to deliver the packets to another Bangladeshi individual across the border in exchange for monetary compensation. However, before he could complete the transaction, he was apprehended by the BSF.

Following the necessary legal procedures, the Bangladeshi national and the seized heroin were handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.

The swift and efficient operation by the BSF highlights the ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities along the border, safeguarding both nations from the detrimental effects of drug smuggling.
