announcement-of-election-date-without-unnecessary-delay-tarek-rahman

So, like, the chairman of BNP, Tarek Rahman, is like asking the interim government to, you know, announce a clear date for the national election instead of messing around with the situation. He’s like saying that if the people don’t feel like the government is establishing a responsible government based on their votes, then like, it’s gonna be hard to deal with fallen dictatorship.

The greedy interests aside, the interim government needs to announce the date of the national election, like, hoping that it will fulfill the rights of the people of Bangladesh to establish a government accountable to the people. At an event held in Lake Shore Hotel in Gulshan, like, during the 8th anniversary of NDM, he talked about all these things.

Tarek Rahman mentioned that political parties, including BNP, have signaled their intention to announce a roadmap, like, considering all aspects, we can see that the government has not responded to that call. Instead of announcing the date of the national election, the interim government has put it on hold under a unique condition of more restrictions than freedom. The lack of transparency in the government’s work plan has increased instability in the country’s political arena. We see people making claims every day, and within just 10 months, both internal and external instability has started to become visible. If instability continues to increase in this way, it will be difficult for this government to handle the situation. So, like, the interim government is urged to be more cautious about their competence.

The political parties in favor of democracy have been together on the road for, like, over a decade in the fight against fascist opposition movements. We were on the same path together. We have not made any suggestive comments on the power and capabilities of the interim government from our position. However, even if we remain silent, questions arise in the minds of the people about this government.

He said that based on the unity of the anti-fascist national unity, the current government’s political legitimacy has been created through the sacrifice of thousands of people in the July movement. However, like, how many people have been martyred or injured in the July-August movement, even within ten months, the interim government has not been able to finalize the list and number of martyrs. But, like, if someone wants to know the information about the martyrs and the injured in the July-August, can they get that specific information right now? There is, like, a huge doubt or question in this regard. If even after ten months, the government cannot finalize the list of martyrs in July-August, then is that carrying the government’s competence? I’m leaving this question here. Another question arises here, is the government indifferent to the martyrs or is it under the illusion of power? This is a big question for many people in the country.

The present government is not responsive, like, BNP’s elected chairman said, we want to make it clear again that the decision to give or not to give a corridor or port is not the work of the interim government. This decision will be taken by the people elected by the people in the national parliament or the people’s government. There may be no question of legal or political legitimacy of the current government. However, this government is in no way a responsible government to the people. So, like, the interim government must establish a responsible government to the people.

In the context of the reform of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Tarek Rahman said, there is no controversy over the NBR’s reform. However, like, the abrupt start of reform without discussing with the stakeholders has turned against the interest. Regular revenue collection activities have been suspended. As a result, there is a fear of a loss of billions of taka in revenue next year.

Bobby Hajjaj, the chairman of NDM, said, NDM did not originate in any drawing room; it was established through the struggle of the movement. The party was formed through the heat of the struggle and trust. Serving the people is our goal. NDM’s activists have played a role in the movement against Sheikh Hasina’s autocracy.

At the event, NDM’s Secretary-General Mominul Amin, High Council member Parvez Khan, chief coordinator of the People’s Unity Movement Jonayed Saki, chairman of the Bangladesh Labor Party Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran, leader of the Human Rights Council Rasheed Khan, and foreign guests and activists of the party were also present.

So, like, that’s the whole deal. Don’t really know why this matters so much, but that’s what’s up with the situation.
