Alright, so here’s the deal. In Bogura, there was this incident on a moving train where a guy named Matiur Rahman got pushed and attempted to be murdered. The whole thing started when he was accused of being a ‘mobile phone thief’ in Adomdighi Upazila of Bogura. The police filed a case against him for trying to kill someone on a moving train.
So, on Monday night, the Santhahar Railway Police Station booked Matiur Rahman, mentioning his name and naming six to seven unidentified individuals as the culprits. Now, here’s the scoop – Matiur Rahman, the son of Habibur Rahman from Parail village in Raninagar Upazila of Naogaon, was involved in sending people abroad legally for the past one and a half years alongside his fish business. He even sent three to four people to Saudi Arabia. Just fifteen days ago, he sent Sajib Hossain, the son of Helal Pramanik from Talshon village in Adomdighi, to Saudi Arabia. As a result, Matiur took 450,000 taka from Sajib. But, due to delays in obtaining legal documents in Saudi, Sajib got mad and threatened Matiur through his father.
Now, Matiur decided to visit his daughter Monika’s house in Matidali area of Bogura city. To return home, he boarded the Santahar-bound Dolonchapa intercity train on Sunday afternoon. As soon as he got on the train from Bogura station, he was followed by six to seven masked individuals led by Rakib, the brother of Sajib, and Sumon, the son of Sirajul Islam from Doharipur. When the train reached Nasratpur station in Adomdighi around 12:00 pm, they accused Matiur of being a ‘mobile phone thief’ and tried to beat him and push him off the moving train. They spent about 4-5 minutes hanging out on the train with Matiur. At one point, they forcibly took 50,000 taka from Matiur and pushed him off the train when it reached Nasratpur station. He fell on the platform and got beaten up by the locals, thinking he was a thief. He was seriously injured and was later rescued and admitted to the Adomdighi Upazila Health Complex.
A video of the incident went viral on social media. Following the incident, on Monday night, Matiur himself mentioned the name of Sumon, the son of Sirajul Islam from Doharipur village, along with six to seven unidentified individuals and filed a case at the Santahar Railway Police Station. Habibur Rahman Habib, the Officer-in-Charge of the Santahar Railway Police Station, mentioned that a case was filed at the police station regarding the incident at Nasratpur Railway Station. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
