Whirling storm approaching, how prepared is the Bhola district correspondent?

Bhola: Deeply active cloud formations have been observed in the northern Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas. As a result, the sea has become turbulent, raising concerns about the formation of a cyclone. In this situation, the four sea ports of the country—Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra—have been instructed to show caution as the number 3 local signal.

Since morning in Bhola district, water levels in rivers and canals have started to rise, and the rivers have become quite turbulent. Sometimes clouds grace the sky, while at other times, fiery weather prevails. Light drizzles have also been seen in some places.

In the coastal areas near the sea, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has issued a ban on boat movement. On the other hand, the Water Development Board (PAUVO) has already taken preliminary preparations to combat the cyclone. Staff have been kept alert, and an adequate quantity of geo bags has been kept for emergency use.

Deputy Coordinator of the Disaster Management Committee in Bhola district, Sahabuddin, said that 13,800 volunteers in the district have been prepared to deal with natural disasters voluntarily. In addition, an emergency disaster management meeting has been called for Saturday morning.

Furthermore, 869 shelters and 19 cyclone shelters have been prepared in the district for safe refuge during disasters.

For the past few days, due to inclement weather conditions, anxiety and panic have been prevailing among the general public in the coastal areas. Locals have been relying on timely and reliable forecasts and have expressed the importance of prompt and effective administrative measures.
