Extra Maintenance for 140 Coaches in Excess Passenger Transport during Eid

The largest Saidpur Railway Factory in the country is almost done with the maintenance of additional coaches for excess passenger transport during Eid journeys. About 100 coaches have already been transferred to the railway traffic department. The remaining 40 coaches will be handed over to the traffic department after completing the maintenance.

Sources have revealed that Eid specials and intercity trains will run using these coaches. Although the factory has 3,220 approved staff, only 854 workers are currently working due to a halt in new recruitments. About 25% of the workforce is engaged in production to handle the pressure of Eid travelers, hence the ongoing process of extra coach maintenance.

The Carriage Shop in charge of the factory, Engineer Mominul Islam, stated that under the supervision of the factory’s DS officer, only 25% of the workforce is engaged in maintaining a total of 140 coaches for Eid. Out of these, 100 coaches have already been transferred to the Pakshi and Lalmonirhat traffic departments. The rest of the coaches will be transferred gradually.

According to the same source, an additional 40 coaches have been maintained in the Saidpur Railway Factory over the past 50 working days as part of regular work. This ensures that there are no concerns about coach shortages in railway services this time. More passengers will have the opportunity to use rail transport than usual.

The Divisional Superintendent (DS) of the Saidpur Railway Factory, Shah Sufi Nur Mohammad, assured, “Even amidst a hundred percent capacity, we are ensuring service for Eid, which is a big deal.” He further mentioned, “We have already completed the maintenance of 100 coaches and transferred them to the railway traffic department. The remaining coaches can be transferred quickly.”

He expressed gratitude to the railway workers for their cooperation in these tasks. He added, “Maintenance of these coaches is being carried out according to the regular work schedule. With these additional coaches, the Western Railway has decided to operate two Eid special trains. Extra coaches will also be added to each intercity train.”

In conclusion, the railway services will be well-equipped to handle the influx of passengers during Eid, thanks to the additional coach maintenance carried out by the Saidpur Railway Factory. The efforts of the staff in ensuring a smooth travel experience for passengers during this festive season are commendable.
