So, like, the big boss of DNCC, Mohammad Azaz, was talking about how if your house is connected to the storm drainage in Gulshan, Banani, or other areas in North Dhaka, then your walls will be painted red. Yeah, you heard it right! The administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Mohammad Azaz, made it crystal clear that if your house’s poop goes directly to the city corporation’s storm drainage, lake, or pond, then your walls will be painted red.

According to a gathering and discussion session organized by DNCC, Gulshan, Baridhara, and Niketon Society on Saturday (24th May), the big boss Azaz mentioned this. He was like, “Every house needs to have a septic tank according to Rajuk’s plan.” If your house in Gulshan-Banani area doesn’t have a septic tank, then the connections to the poop will be directly marked by the city corporation’s storm drainage. After the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, those houses’ walls will be painted red to mark them.

Azaz also said that after Eid-ul-Azha, there will be an operation to remove illegal encroachments on the roads and footpaths in Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara areas. To ensure proper management of sacrificial waste during the upcoming Eid, the responsibility of waste management in Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and Niketon will be handed over to the societies. He further stated that everyone’s participation is needed to build a fair city. Especially, DNCC will develop 18 new wards and transform them into a modern liveable city. A reserved forest area will also be established near the airport.

During the meeting, the residents of the area asked about holding tax, and the big boss of DNCC was like, “From now on, city dwellers can calculate their taxes online from the comfort of their homes.” Among the attendees were the regional executive officer of DNCC’s Zone-3, Nahid ul Mustak, additional chief engineer Mohammad Arifur Rahman, and many residents from Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and Niketon societies.

Overall, it seems like DNCC is on a mission to revamp the city and ensure proper waste management. Let’s see how the red walls turn out after Eid-ul-Azha! Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like a step in the right direction for a cleaner and more organized city. Don’t you think?
