Bkash Entrepreneur Fair 2025 Initiative

Dhaka: In a bid to promote products by female entrepreneurs, a two-day event titled ‘Tara Udyokta Mela 2025’ has kicked off at the Alok Convention Center in the capital’s Gulshan.

With the aim of showcasing locally-made products by female entrepreneurs and creating a market for their products, the bank has organized this exhibition, with 85 female entrepreneurs from various parts of the country participating.

Most of the participants in this fair are involved in production-related activities, playing a crucial role in promoting the country’s heritage. Following the success of last year’s ‘Tara Udyokta Mela,’ the bank has organized this event for the third time, where entrepreneurs have set up their own stalls without any costs.

On Sunday (March 16), the official inauguration of the fair was conducted by Nazma Mobarak, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, with the presence of Meheriar M. Hassan, Chairman of Bkash Bank, and Selim Reza Farhad Hossain, Managing Director and CEO.

Also present at the event were Nausad Mustafa, Director of the SME and Special Programs Department of Bangladesh Bank, Farzana Chowdhury, Managing Director and CEO of Green Delta Insurance, and Farzana Khan, Deputy Managing Director of SME Foundation.

Furthermore, Syed Abdul Momen, Deputy Managing Director and Head of SME Banking at Bkash Bank, was also in attendance at the event.

The exhibition will remain open to all from 12 pm to 11 pm on March 16 and from 10 am to 11 pm on March 17.

A variety of potential female entrepreneurs have showcased a range of products like boutique items, handmade clothing, handicrafts, products made of clay and jute, leather goods, jamdani and muslin clothing, food products, organic skincare items, bamboo and cane products, and various other locally-made items. In addition to these, the fair offers a bioscope, an Iftar and dinner food court, Hawaiian sweets, free mental health counseling, check-ups, and travel and tour consultations for visitors.

Bkash Bank aims to provide cashless payment facilities in the digital ecosystem for female entrepreneurs, with QR and card payment-enabled technologies. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to 20 percent on any product purchased through QR payments.

This exhibition is considered a significant platform for promoting women entrepreneurs’ products and expressing their creativity through product innovation while preserving the country’s heritage. The event aims to help increase sales for female entrepreneurs and reach more customers during the ongoing Eid shopping season.

Commenting on the exhibition, Selim Reza Farhad Hossain, Managing Director and CEO of Bkash Bank, stated that the bank has always supported female entrepreneurs in realizing their full potential for development. Through this ‘Tara Udyokta Mela,’ entrepreneurs have the opportunity to promote and market locally-made products, integrating them with the country’s culture and heritage. Our strong commitment to the development, empowerment, and promotion of female entrepreneurs is reflected in organizing such events across various regions in the country every year.
