A fire broke out at a house in Aftabnagar, leaving three children burnt, along with their parents. The incident occurred on Friday night at around 11 pm in the southern Anandanagar area of Aftabnagar in Dhaka. The family was rescued and taken to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Shahbagh. The victims are identified as Tofazzal (32), his wife Mansura (24), and their three children Tanisha (24), Mithila (8), and Tanzila (4).
According to local sources, the couple rented the ground floor of a house in the southern Anandanagar area of Aftabnagar with their three children. Due to a gas leak, the explosion occurred due to the touch of fire. As a result, the fire spread all around the house, causing the parents and their three daughters to get burnt. The locals managed to extinguish the fire right away.
Jalal Uddin, a local grocery shop owner, confirmed the truth of the incident and mentioned that the explosion occurred due to a gas leak in the house. He also added that the incident took place 100 yards away from his shop. The victims are poor people, he said. In the emergency department of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Dr. Shoaib Bin Rahman stated that five members of the same family, including children, are undergoing treatment. Their percentage of body burns will be known later.
Shahazahan Hossain, Deputy Officer of the Fire Service Headquarters, informed that the news of a fire in a house in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, was received at night. Later, when the two units of the fire service arrived at the scene, it was reported that the fire had been extinguished.
