Deceased Rafi was the son of Md. Azad from Alipur village of Ward No. 6 of the union and a student of the eleventh grade at Kabirhat Government College. The accused rural doctor, Md. Shahin (60), is the son of Sujat Ullah from the same area.
Injured Rafi’s friend Saim mentioned, at around 4 pm, during a football game at the field of Ashwadia Soleman High School in Alipur village of Ashwadia Union, my friend Md. Ruman was injured in the mouth and started bleeding. Later, from the playground, Ruman was taken to the treatment of rural doctor Shahin at Chan Mia Mor in Alipur.
There, when rural doctor Shahin saw the injured Ruman showing signs of needing treatment, a verbal argument ensued between him and a group of teenagers. In the course of the argument, in one instance of physical altercation, Shahin stabbed Rafi under the neck with a knife in the tea shop, cutting the artery. This left Rafi critically injured. Later, locals rescued Rafi and took him to Noakhali General Hospital, where he was taken to Al Baraka Hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
