The Big Bang of Rankings: Tanjid’s Long Laugh, Improvement in Jakir Ali as Well
So, like, did you hear about the cricket match? Tanjid Hasan Tamim was like totally killing it with his bat in the second match against the United Arab Emirates. He scored an amazing innings, collecting a total of two centuries for Bangladesh. They didn’t really win, but Tanjid totally nailed the batting award. He’s like, making a big splash in the rankings. And not just him, Liton Das, Tahid Hridoy, and Jakir Ali have also shown improvement.
Rankings were updated today by the ICC, where T20 batters like Tanjid have moved up 29 steps. After scoring 59 runs off 33 balls in the second T20 against the UAE, he now has 367 rating points, ranking at number one. Liton also moved up a step after playing an innings of 40 runs off 24 balls in this match. With 515 rating points, he’s at number 49. Tahid Hridoy also moved up a step with 581 rating points and is tied at number 29 with West Indies’ Hope. Jakir Ali’s improvement has been remarkable, moving up 6 steps. With a career-best 404 rating points, he is now at number 82.
On the bowling side, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanjid Hasan, and Shariful Islam have also shown improvement. Mustafiz moved up a step, now with 599 rating points at 25th place. Tanjid Hasan Sakib has also improved, now at number 40. Shariful Islam moved up a step as well. However, Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed have fallen behind in this series, moving back six and five steps respectively.
Not really sure why this matters, but rankings were updated this week by the ICC. Tanjid Hasan is killing it with his bat, Liton Das is making moves, and Jakir Ali is also climbing the ladder. Mustafizur Rahman, Tanjid Hasan, and Shariful Islam are also showing improvement in bowling. Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed, not so much. But hey, that’s just how the rankings go, right?
