national-policy-demands-for-hackers

Hackers are demanding a national policy for them, claimed the Dhaka Metropolitan Hackers Unity Council. This claim was made at a gathering and protest rally held at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Thursday, May 20.
The meeting was chaired by Dhaka Metropolitan Hackers Unity Council President Murshikul Islam Shimul. In attendance were the organization’s editor-in-chief, Md. Lutfur Rahman Khan, organizational editor Md. Moktar Hossain, and financial editor Md. Azhar Hossain.

Speakers at the gathering said that the International Workers’ Day was obtained 139 years ago in exchange for the workers’ lives. However, even today the rights of workers are not established. All the wealth of the world is earned in exchange for the workers’ lives. From the great Liberation War of Bangladesh to the People’s Uprising of 2024, all victories have come in exchange for the lives of workers. The first martyr of the People’s Uprising was a hacker in New Market. Therefore, when we look at the achievements of the People’s Uprising in 2024, we also see the contribution of workers here. However, the rights of workers are not established. Instead, they continue to face repression, torture, and the same old laws.

The speakers also said that hackers have been fighting for their national recognition for a long time. However, despite promises by past governments, hackers have not been given legal recognition. Since various laws are being enacted now, without delay, hackers are demanding a national policy for them to express their call for national recognition.

At the gathering, speakers said that eviction of hackers without rehabilitation will not be tolerated. They demanded an end to all kinds of extortion, police harassment, repression, and torture on hackers.

The speakers highlighted the need for sustainable development focused on the people’s consent to accelerate economic progress. However, the government is evicting self-reliant workers instead of ensuring arrangements for their work. This leads to conflict with the desired goal.

At the end of the meeting, a rally was held.
