Dhaka: Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has announced plans to hold divisional conferences and protests across the country four times demanding the cancellation of the Divisional Women’s Conference and the National Women’s Commission in the next three months, with a protest scheduled for May 23. The organization’s Secretary-General, Sajidur Rahman, made the announcement at a historic gathering in the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday, May 3.
He stated that divisional conferences would be held in the next three months to establish women’s just rights. After May 23, a countrywide protest will be carried out four times to demand various issues. Prior to this, Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, the acting Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, read out 12 declaration papers.
At the gathering, the organization’s Joint Secretary-General, Ajizul Haque Islamabadi, read out a written statement on behalf of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Amir, Muhibbullah Babungari. In the statement, he mentioned the various challenges the country is facing and emphasized the need for national unity to combat imperialism and conspiracy against Bangladesh.
He further mentioned the rise of anti-Islamic groups in the country and criticized the recent report submitted by the Women’s Empowerment Commission against the Quran. He warned against any decisions that go against the Quran and Sunnah and called for the immediate cancellation of the controversial commission and the anti-Quran report.
Hefazat-e-Islam is working to establish women’s just rights and is demanding the government to enact strict laws to end the culture of impunity in the country. They also called for ensuring women’s safety in education and employment sectors. Additionally, they recommended abolishing the sections related to religious insult in the Digital Security Act and the Penal Code, describing them as part of a deep conspiracy.
Moreover, they insisted on implementing the strictest punishment for insulting Allah and His Prophet (PBUH). The organization aims to achieve these goals by August 5. They stressed the need for a new constitution and government system based on justice to prevent the rise of fascist dictatorship in Bangladesh.
They expressed their desire to create a Bangladesh where the safety of all citizens, including minorities, is ensured, and everyone’s religious freedom and rights are protected. They emphasized the importance of freedom of speech and vowed to prevent any attacks on religious sentiments. They also rejected the politicization of minority groups in the country and called for accountability of Indian imperialism and fascist elements.
The gathering concluded with a prayer led by Muhibbullah Babungari, the president of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. Other speakers at the event included Mahmudur Hasan Kashemi, the central deputy of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Amir Ahmed Kashemi, the national coordinator of the National Citizens Party, Hasanat Abdullah, the coordinator of the South Zone, and Mamunul Haque, the chief secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam’s joint secretary.
The event highlighted the organization’s commitment to promoting women’s rights and ensuring a just society for all citizens. The demands put forward by Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh reflect their dedication to upholding Islamic principles and values in the country.
