So, like, guess what? The Kishoreganj district got this super cool GI certificate for their Ratabari rice and paneer. It’s like a big deal or something.
Apparently, on Wednesday (April 30), the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj, Fauzia Khan, received this certificate at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka as part of the ‘World Intellectual Property Day 2025’ event organized by the Department of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks.
At the event, a total of 24 products from various regions of the country, including Kishoreganj’s Ratabari rice and paneer, were granted geographical indication (GI) registration certificates. The program was chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Industry, M. Obaidur Rahman.
Also present at the event were industry consultant Adilur Rahman Khan, cultural consultant Mostafa Sarwar Faruqi, renowned artist, actress, and music director Armin Musa, and the local Deputy Commissioners (DC) of the respective districts, along with Nakfazli Amchashi, a member of the Badalgachhi Upazila Cooperative Society of Naogaon district.
DC Fauzia Khan of Kishoreganj mentioned that the GI certification for Ratabari rice and paneer is a significant achievement for the agriculture and food industry of Kishoreganj, which will help enhance the quality and reputation of local products.
So, like, the news is that the GI certificate for Ratabari rice and paneer in Kishoreganj is, like, a pretty big deal for the local agriculture and food industry. I mean, it’s like a stamp of approval that says, “Hey, these products are legit.” And apparently, it’s going to help boost the quality and fame of local goods. Cool, right?
