Late Night Robbery on Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Highway
So, like, there was this crazy incident of robbery on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Highway. It went down from around 11 PM on Tuesday to like 5 AM on Wednesday when a group of robbers took control of a bus full of passengers and like, stole everything they had. And get this, during the whole robbery, there were also attempts of like, sexual harassment on the female passengers. Like, seriously, what is wrong with people?
Details of the Incident
The bus, belonging to Al Imran Paribahan, started its journey from Abdullohpur in Dhaka at around 8 PM on Tuesday. Along the way, passengers from places like Savar, Narshingdi, Bypaile, and Ashulia boarded the bus. The bus with around 45 passengers, including about 10 women, deviated from its route towards Kalihati Upazila in Tangail around 11 PM. After traveling a few kilometers on the highway connecting to the Jamuna Bridge, a group of 8-10 robbers armed with knives, sticks, and other local weapons hijacked the bus from the driver. They then proceeded to blindfold everyone on board and looted their belongings, including mobile phones, cash, jewelry, and other valuables. The robbers then took the bus towards Chandura-Ashulia area and later made multiple rounds from there to Tangail.
The Aftermath
The bus driver, Abed Ali, revealed that the robbers targeted the bus about four to five times in Tangail and Chandura-Ashulia during the night. In the early morning at around 5 AM, the robbers left the bus at Shibpur area on the Tangail Bypass Road. Later, they took the passengers to Tangail Sadar Police Station for further inquiries. Some of the passengers shared their horrifying experiences of being sexually harassed and physically assaulted by the robbers during the robbery. The police are currently investigating the case and have initiated efforts to identify and apprehend the robbers involved.
Previous Incidents
This incident is not the first of its kind on this particular highway. Earlier incidents of robbery and sexual harassment have been reported on similar buses operating on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna route. The authorities need to take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of passengers traveling on this highway to prevent such incidents in the future.
So, like, this whole situation is just messed up, right? I mean, who in their right mind would think it’s okay to rob innocent people and harass women like that? It’s just not cool, man. Hopefully, the authorities can catch those robbers soon and put an end to these crimes on the highway. But, like, who even knows what will happen next?
