On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, following the woman’s complaint, the police arrested her husband Rubel (32) and his friend Sagar (30) in connection with the assault. The incident unfolded at the Mirinja Valley Resort, a popular tourist destination in Lama, where Rubel took his second wife last Saturday, March 8. It was reported that the woman was kept in captivity for four days and assaulted by a group of six individuals. Subsequently, on Monday, March 11, the victim was taken to the Lama Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment.

After receiving initial medical care, the victim went to the police station and provided a detailed description of the events. As a result, the police initiated legal proceedings against six individuals under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, Section 9(3)/30. Among the accused were Abul Kashem’s son Rubel (32), Jahir (40) – son of Danu Mia from Madhuji area of Lama Pourashava, and Mamun (28) – son of Kabir from the Lineziri area. Additionally, two unidentified individuals were also named as accused in the case.

Abdul Karim, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) in Bandarban district, confirmed the details of the case. According to his statement, the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted by six individuals, including her husband, at two different resorts in Lama. Following the complaint, the police conducted an operation and apprehended the two suspects. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused individuals involved in the case.
