So, like, there was this dude named Mo. Sakil Ahmed, who got hit with a three-month prison sentence for stealing a bicycle in the Bot-tola area of Azimpur in the capital, Dhaka. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) handed down the punishment, confirmed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman from the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department on Saturday, May 3. The trial was conducted in the Azimpur area by the Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman.
According to sources from the Lalbagh-Traffic Department, Sakil, who was caught red-handed trying to steal a red, black, and white mixed bicycle in front of Shahsab’s house in the Bot-tola area of Azimpur, was nabbed by the local people and handed over to the on-duty police sergeant. With the assistance of the police sergeant and Lalbagh Thana police, Sakil was apprehended and presented with witnesses before the knowledgeable Special Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman, who, after reviewing the evidence, sentenced him to three months of rigorous imprisonment.
It has been informed by Muhammad Talebur Rahman that such immediate judicial proceedings in crime control will remain uninterrupted in the metropolis. (AJDS/RB)
